Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Shop Mechanic to support maintenance, repair, assembly, and overhaul of natural gas compression equipment and related components in our shop. This position is ideal for an individual with strong mechanical aptitude, oil and gas experience, and hands-on troubleshooting abilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with tear-downs, inspections, repairs, and rebuilds of compression equipment
- Support engine and compressor overhauls and component replacement
- Perform maintenance and repairs on:
- Natural gas engines
- Compressors
- Pumps
- Coolers
- Separators
- Valves and package components
- Assist with compressor package assembly and modifications
- Clean, inspect, and prepare components for rebuild or installation
- Operate shop equipment and tools safely
- Maintain organized work areas, tools, and shop equipment
- Complete work orders, inspection sheets, and shop documentation
- Follow company safety procedures and quality standards
Qualifications
- Mechanical experience in oil & gas, heavy equipment, automotive, agriculture, or industrial maintenance preferred
- Compression experience considered a strong asset
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Basic understanding of engines, compressors, and rotating equipment
- Ability to read manuals, schematics, and basic mechanical drawings
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License preferred
Assets
- Experience with:
- CAT engines
- Waukesha engines
- Ariel compressors
- Gemini or Ajax equipment
- Forklift or telehandler experience
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Parts or inventory experience
- Safety certifications (H2S, First Aid, CSO)
