POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general oversight of the Economic Development Manager, this position will support the Economic Development Department with short-term Economic Development initiatives while providing administrative support to the team.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assists with the implementation of summer economic development initiatives.
  • Assists with research and data collection for economic development initiatives (e.g. film industry, Economic Development Strategy, and land development sectors).
  • Provides administrative support including drafting reports, correspondence, and presentations.
  • Assist with record management as directed, including but not limited to updating business directories and verification of business contact information.
  • Support as directed any survey initiatives, gather feedback on challenges, opportunities and support needs from local businesses.
  • Promote municipal programs, grants or initiatives to local businesses.
  • Support grant research and assist with grant reporting as needed.
  • Completion of other tasks, projects, and responsibilities within the scope of the position, as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates possessing or pursuing a post-secondary education in business, paralegal, legal assistant or a comparable field will be given preference.
  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence, with the ability to provide a satisfactory 10-Year Driver's Abstract.
  • Ability to provide an acceptable Criminal Record Check.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision with a desire and ability to learn while in their role.
  • Ability to represent the Town and Department in a competent, professional manner.

Employment Category:            Temporary (Summer Seasonal)
Hours per Week:                      37.5 hours (Monday to Friday)
Compensation:                        $24.95
