Greentree Before and After School Care - Program Supervisor (ECE Level 3)
Position Summary
The Program Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the student-led Greentree Before and After School Care program at Greentree Elementary School in Drumheller. This role ensures a safe and engaging environment for children in Kindergarten through Grade 6 during split-shift hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Oversight & Facilitation: Facilitate student-led programming (arts, crafts, outdoor play, activity centers) that respects children's choices.
- Operations & Supply Management: Shop for program supplies and maintain inventory within approved budgets.
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure daily cleaning, sanitation, and proper equipment storage in strict compliance with Alberta Child Care regulations.
- Staff Leadership & Guidance: Direct primary staff members (ECE Levels 1 and 2), plan daily routines, and communicate clear operational expectations.
- Active Supervision & Safety: Ensure direct supervision of children according to licensing ratios. Implement safety, illness, and emergency procedures.
- Policy Compliance & Administration: Maintain daily attendance records, portable emergency records, and medical/incident documentation. Enforce positive child discipline practices.
- Family & Community Engagement: Maintain positive, professional communication with parents, school representatives, and community members.
Hours & Schedule
- Split Shift: Monday to Friday (some Fridays off - following school calendar), 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM and 3:20 PM – 6:00 PM (approx. 885 hours per school year).
Qualifications
- Certification: Valid Alberta Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level 3 Certification (required).
- First Aid: Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Background Checks: Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Intervention Check.
- Skills: Strong leadership, child guidance skills, initiative in student-led activity planning, and clear communication.
