Duties:
- Conduct in-depth client intakes, employability assessments, and develop individualized action plans to support realistic employment goals
- Assist clients with resume writing, cover letters, job search strategies, career exploration, and career planning
- Identify barriers to employment and support clients in developing strategies to overcome challenges related to employment and life circumstances
- Provide one-on-one career counselling and ongoing employment support to clients
- Facilitate weekly peer support groups focused on life skills, employability skills, and career development
- Encourage and support clients in building peer-based support networks and job search networks through group participation
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful group environment that promotes engagement, participation, and collaboration
- Facilitate group discussions on workplace readiness, communication skills, confidence building, stress management, goal setting, and healthy relationships
- Support clients in developing networking skills and connecting with employment, volunteer, and community opportunities
- Foster motivation, self-confidence, and independence among participants
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, employers, service providers, and referral agencies
- Provide referrals to appropriate community resources and support services as needed
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and reporting requirements
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community programming and resources
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in Human Services or a related field
- Experience in employment counselling, or group facilitation is considered an asset
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage, motivate, coach, and support individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Ability to facilitate group discussions in a supportive and inclusive manner
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of employment services, life skills programming, and community supports considered an asset
- Demonstrated belief in client-centered practice and the importance of community participation and inclusion
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation may be required
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required
