Community Relations Coordinator – Kneehill County

Position Summary
The Community Relations Coordinator (CRC)is responsible for supporting seniors and their families throughout Kneehill County - South including Carbon, Acme, Linden and Swalwell and Three Hills by providing outreach services, coordinating programs, recruiting and supporting volunteers, advocating for older adults, and strengthening community connections. This position plays an important role in reducing isolation, improving access to services, and enhancing the quality of life for seniors through compassionate, client-centered support.
Hours of Work
- Part-time position averaging 15-20 hours per week.
- Flexible work schedule to meet the needs of clients and community programming. Office hours are 9 - 4p.m. Tuesday 9-12 Carbon, Wednesday 9-4 Linden, Acme, Swalwell, other days in Three Hills as required
- Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required for special events and community activities.
- Bi-weekly timesheets and mileage reports must be submitted.
Compensation
- Hourly wage determined according to organizational wage scales. $ 20/ hour.
- Paid bi-weekly.
- Mileage reimbursement for approved work-related travel at the current organizational rate. $ .61/km from Three Hills to towns requested to work in.
- Vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, sick leave, and other employment benefits are provided in accordance with the Alberta Employment Standards Code and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities (no limited to)
Client Services
- Provide information, referrals, and assistance to seniors accessing community resources.
- Assist clients with government forms, benefit applications, and community service referrals.
- Coordinate transportation services and assist with errands / transportation when appropriate.
- Conduct wellness checks and supportive visits with seniors.
- Provide emotional support and practical assistance to older adults experiencing financial, legal, housing, health, or social concerns.
- Advocate on behalf of clients and assist in resolving issues including elder abuse, neglect, exploitation, scams, and other barriers to independence.
- Work in conjunction with all other staff to collaboratively assist clients.
Community Development
- Plan, organize, and facilitate community events and educational programs for seniors.
- Develop and distribute monthly activity calendars and promotional materials.
- Represent Seniors Outreach Program Society at community meetings, public events, senior lodges, and municipal offices, and as assigned.
- Build positive relationships with municipalities, community organizations, healthcareproviders, and other stakeholders.
- Fundraising duties &responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination - In conjunction with main office
- Recruit, interview, orient,and support volunteers.
- Coordinate volunteeractivities and schedules.
- Recognize and appreciatevolunteer contributions.
- Maintain volunteer recordsand communications.
Program Administration
- Maintain accurate clientdocumentation and confidential records.
- Prepare monthly activityand statistical reports.
- Assist with grant-fundedinitiatives and reporting requirements.
- Support fundraisingactivities and community awareness campaigns.
- Participate in staff meetings IN Three Hills, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Team Collaboration
- Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, Board members, and community partners.
- Share information and resources to ensure coordinated client support.
- Contribute positively to the organizations mission and goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or Board of Directors.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working with seniors, volunteers, or community organizations is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of communityresources and government programs available to seniors is an asset.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email. Zoom, fax, website navigation
- Valid Alberta drivers licence with access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to travel throughout Carbon, Acme, Linden and Swalwell.
Working Conditions
- Frequent travel throughout Carbon, Acme, Linden and Swalwell.
- Combination of office work, client home visits, community meetings, and public events.
- Some lifting, event setup, and transportation of program materials may be required.
- Occasional evening and weekend work for special yearly events (Seniors Week, Gifts for Grandparents)
