Conveyancer/Real Estate Paralegal

Overview
We are a small office in rural Alberta seeking a detail-oriented and organized Conveyancer/Real Estate Paralegal to join our legal team. Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills, proficiency in legal software, and strong communication. With an office in Stettler, Lacombe, and Coronation we handle residential real estate but plenty of agricultural transfers, re-finances, grazing leases, and commercial transactions as well. The ability to plan and organize signing given different office locations is a must.

Duties

  • Collect information for, draft, and proof-read purchase contracts, leases, rights of first refusal, and other legal documents
  • Manage case files through effective filing systems and data entry to ensure accuracy and accessibility
  • Maintain professional phone, email and in person etiquette when communicating with clients and other staff members (and preferably lawyers too)
  • Perform clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling administrative tasks
  • Preparing closing documents and closing transactions

Experience

  • Prior administrative experience in a legal setting including filing, faxing, photocopying, and answering phones
  • Experience with conveyancing software (LDD, Prolegis etc). Our office primarily uses Unity so familiarity with Unity is an asset
  • Knowledge of legal file management software (Clio, PCLaw, ESILaw etc). Our office uses Cosmolex so familiarity with Cosmolex is an asset
  • Experience with commercial or agriculture transactions an asset
  • Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence
  • Excellent proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all legal documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to handle data entry and maintain accurate filing systems
  • CORES and PPR certificates and experience an asset
  • Familiarity with Trust rules as they pertain to real estate transfers of funds

While we pride ourselves on our ability to be flexible with what individual employees need to be successful, this is an in office position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
