Environmental Technician - Reclamation

Job Description

Wellsite Environmental Inc. is looking for someone to join our environmental services team. This position will consist of a mix offield-based and office-based work and will be primarily focused on completion of Reclamation Assessments and associated reporting.

Field assessments will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Phase 1 and 2 EnvironmentalSite Assessments (ESAs)
  • Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs)
  • Wellsite Reclamation Certificate Application’s
  • Spill Response

In addition to the primary role conducting reclamation assessments and reporting the successful candidate may be required to assist with pre-disturbance assessments (PDAs),wildlife surveys. wildlife sweeps, wetland/watercourse assessments,environmental desktop review, and reporting.

This position will primarily be a full-time Monday-Friday position but may require occasional weekend work and will require someone with the ability to work in the field on short notice and may involve some extended periods working in the field. If not in the field a variety of office tasks will be required.

The head office is in Calgary, Alberta with a field office based in the Drumheller/Hanna area, the successful candidate would be expected to work from one of these locations. Wellsite Environmental Inc. will offer a competitive wage with benefits that will be based on qualifications and experience. This is a permanent full-time position based on completion of a 3-month probationary period.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Minimum requirement of a two-year Diploma in Environmental Science, Renewable Resource Management or equivalent from a Post-Secondary Institution.
  • Professional Designation with sign-off capability for Reclamation Assessments and Spill Response (or ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame)
  • Good plant identification skills, soil classification, and wetland classification.
  • Strong wild life knowledge and identification skills (visually and auditorily).
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Valid H2S and First Aid.
  • Authenticating Wetland Professional (AWP) or Qualified Aquatic EnvironmentalSpecialist (QAES) designation would be considered an asset but not required.
