About the Role

Join our Health & Safety team and play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety within ATCO. As a qualified Field Health & Safety Advisor, you will guide, coach, and support safety practices across all levels of field employees, including management, contractors, and visitors. This position is pivotal in ensuring compliance with health and safety policies, enhancing our safety management systems, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance throughout the company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Implement and uphold the Health & Safety Management System across various operational areas.
  • Enhance health and safety performance in collaboration with operational leaders.
  • Offer daily support to internal clients on applying health and safety systems and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and ATCO policies.
  • Schedule and conduct regular site visits and safety audits across your assigned geographic area.
  • Develop and enforce action plans, procedures, and policies to prevent health and safety incidents.
  • Lead thorough incident investigations and ensure effective management follow-up.
  • Develop and deliver specialized health and safety training.
  • Create and distribute health and safety promotional materials.
  • Facilitate and support Worksite Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  • Coordinate health and safety interventions and ensure compliance during inspections.
  • Participate actively in health and safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with worker compensation claims and support operations with employee health matters.

What you Bring:

  • A diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry related experience in a safety related role.
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license (Class 5).
  • Knowledge of OHS Act/Regulations/Code, CSA Standards, other legislative requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Professional designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or the ability to obtain this designation is preferred.

This position falls under the ATCO Electric and Canadian Energy Workers Association Collective Agreement.
