POSITION SUMMARY:

The Hoodoo Greeter serves as a frontline ambassador for Town of Drumheller tourism, providing exceptional customer service to visitors and supporting the Town’s paid parking program. Responsibilities include promoting tourism in the Valley, educating visitors about parking regulations, selling physical parking passes, and managing cash transactions. This role contributes to positive visitor experiences through professional conduct, accurate information sharing, and maintaining an active presence at our world-renowned Hoodoos

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Promote local tourism and share general information about Town services and attractions.
  • Provide clear, friendly education to visitors on paid parking regulations.
  • Maintain a professional, helpful presence at the Hoodoo parking lot.
  • Sell parking passes and distribute receipts.
  • Operate vehicles, electronic parking systems, radios, and other required equipment.
  • Collect, track, and securely transport cash in accordance with Town procedures.
  • Record traffic volume, signage issues, and other operational observations for reporting.
  • Liaise effectively with Municipal Enforcement, Corporate Services, Recreation, and Public Works staff.
  • Participate in safety meetings and support departmental initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to the Director on service delivery and operational improvements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Grade 12 diploma.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with satisfactory 10-year driver's abstract.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR.
  • 1-year customer service experience.
  • 1-year cash handling experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage variable workloads.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, judgement, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate municipal regulations.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must pass a Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector.

Employment Category:            Temporary (Summer Seasonal)
Hours per Week:                      Approx. 40 FTE
Compensation:                         $17.81 (CUPE 4604 Cashier)
