This role ensures that all assigned areas, including resident rooms, common areas, and service areas, are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard, creating a safe and comfortable environment for residents, guests, and employee care partners. By fostering relationships and honoring each resident’s preferences, the Housekeeper helps create a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like home.Key Accountabilities
- Clean and disinfect resident rooms and bathrooms.
- Dust, vacuum, mop floors, and polish surfaces in resident rooms.
- Change bed linens, replace towels, and replenish room supplies as needed while inviting residents to participate in tasks they enjoy or find meaningful.
- Empty trash and recycling bins in resident rooms, replacing liners regularly.
- Replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and essentials in resident rooms.
- Clean and disinfect dining areas and common spaces.
- Dust, vacuum, mop floors, and polish surfaces in common areas.
- Maintain cleanliness in corridors, stairways, elevators, and other common areas.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks in common areas, such as carpet cleaning, upholstery care, and high dusting.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained and stored correctly in common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins, replenish cleaning supplies and toiletries in common areas.
- Monitor stock levels and report any maintenance or low-stock issues.
- Follow all safety guidelines when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Comply with infection control policies to prevent the spread of germs, especially in healthcare or senior living environments.
- Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
- Report damage, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with residents, guests, and staff to address their needs.
- Engage residents in conversation, recognizing that even brief interactions can bring comfort and connection.
- Greet and interact with residents, guests, and staff respectfully.
- Respond promptly to special requests or concerns related to cleanliness or supplies.
Required Education & Documentation
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training for handling cleaning chemicals is beneficial.
- CPR or First Aid Certification is a plus but not mandatory.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail to maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills to interact with residents, guests, and staff.
- Organizational skills to prioritize cleaning tasks and maintain schedules.
Additional Preferred Education and Skills Asset
- Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial services is preferred but not mandatory.
- On-the-job training is typically provided
