POSITION SUMMARY

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all Aquaplex patrons by providing vigilant lifeguard supervision, high‑quality customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe aquatic environment. This position also supports facility operations through basic maintenance, janitorial tasks, and cashier duties as needed.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide warm, professional customer service to all visitors.
  • Respond to both in‑person and telephone inquiries regarding programs, schedules, admissions, and general facility information.
  • Promote facility rules, available programs, and a positive guest experience.
  • Process payments for daily admissions, swimming lessons, memberships, and other services.
  • Issue receipts, manage cash floats, and follow all established cash-handling procedures.
  • Complete required daily administrative and reporting tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Deliver lifeguard supervision in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Enforce facility safety rules and educate patrons on safe aquatic practices.
  • Respond to aquatic and first aid emergencies, performing rescues and administering care as required.
  • Support the Aquaplex team in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for all participants and visitors.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Contribute to the continuous cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the Aquaplex facility.
  • Promptly report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
  • Adhere to all Town of Drumheller policies, procedures and Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Preference will be given to students entering or attending a post‑secondary institution eligible under federal or provincial summer employment programs (e.g., Federal Summer Employment Grant Program, Provincial STEP Program).
  • National Lifeguard (NL) Certification.
  • Valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR certification.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a clear Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sectors check and show legal eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Bondable.

Hours per Week:                      Approx. 40 Hours FTE
Compensation:                        $18.91 - $22.36
