Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general upkeep of the facility and grounds. This role supports the Facilities Manager by ensuring the building remains safe, functional, and well-maintained for clients and staff in a residential treatment environment.

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required for urgent maintenance issues

Compensation

  • $25.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete day-to-day maintenance requests and repairs
  • Perform basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, fixtures, appliances)
  • Conduct routine inspections of the building and grounds
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks
  • Support the Facilities Manager with ongoing projects and repairs
  • Coordinate with external contractors when required
  • Maintain outdoor areas (snow removal, salting, basic landscaping, debris removal)
  • Set up and take down rooms for programming or meetings
  • Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of common areas as needed
  • Monitor and restock maintenance supplies
  • Identify and report safety hazards or repair needs
  • Follow all health and safety policies (WHMIS, PPE, etc.)
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance workspace

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2+ years of general maintenance or handyman experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repairs
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Reliable, organized, and able to prioritize tasks
  • Good communication skills
  • Physically capable of lifting 25–50 lbs and performing manual work
  • Familiarity with safety standards (WHMIS, PPE)

Additional Requirements (Treatment Environment)

  • Up to date First Aid certification preferred (training can be provided)
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check required
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to be trained in:
  • Mental Health Services Protection Regulation
  • Mental Health Services Protection Act
  • Residential Treatment Services Standards
  • Critical Incident Prevention Training (CPI) preferred (or willingness to complete training)

Working Conditions

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor work
  • Physical work including lifting, climbing, and prolonged standing

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 44 per week
