Operating Room Technician

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification as an Operating Room Technician (ORT). 1-2 years current scrub/ circulatory experience within a Surgical suite. Current experience is defined as working in a OR setting within the past 2 years. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Ability to demonstrate communications skills that promote respect and a positive team environment. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 20 lbs of force. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent peri-operative nursing experience with General Surgery, and OB / GYN is an asset.
