Seasonal GIS Support

Starland County is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Seasonal GIS Support to our Asset Management & GIS Specialist. This opportunity is a seasonal full time position commencing on or near May 1 and ending in October 2026. If the successful applicant is still enrolled in post-secondary program, the opportunity for a shorter term is available from May to August. Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This position will assist the Asset Management & GIS Specialist with field data collection, asset inspections and basic GIS & records support. The role involves working outdoors to gather and verify asset information for municipal infrastructure. This position is deal for a student interested in asset management, GIS, geography, engineering technology, or computer science. The successful candidate must have a valid class 5 drivers license. Maintaining a professional and positive attitude is essential for this position. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications are essential. The successful individual must be reliable, trustworthy, and accountable with good communication and teamwork skills.

The job duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with field data collection related to municipal assets and infrastructure
  • Collect, verify, and update asset information using mobile data collection tools, maps, and spreadsheets
  • Assist with basic GIS tasks such as data entry, mapping, and updating asset records
  • Provide general administrative or project support as required
