2026 Badlands Historical Centre - positions available under the Canada Summer Jobs Grant 8 weeks 30 hours per week. Must be between the ages of 15 – 30 years old. Starting wage $15.00/hour.

Heritage Interpreter 

We're looking for an enthusiastic team member who can enhance visitors' experiences at the Badlands Historical Centre by sharing local history and museum displays through guided tours and interactive activities. This role involves engaging with customers, upselling products, hosting family games, offering child-friendly activities, and providing directions to nearby attractions. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness both inside and outside the museum, addressing concerns promptly, and recording messages in the communication book. Candidates should demonstrate teamwork, communication, digital skills, and leadership while staying proactive with research projects and daily tasks. Join us for a rewarding summer opportunity!

Job description details:

  1. Know the history of Drumheller and display in the museum to enhance a visitors experience in Drumheller (be able and ready to answer questions or give a guided tour)
  2. Engage with customers, offers to upsell, raffle tickets, gifts, come in and play a game.... etc. Example - If they are touring the museum offer a game to play as a family.
  3. Offer child activities, to do there or take home.
  4. Be able to give directions to other local attractions
  5. Cleaning, ensure the museum floor is free of debris, cabinets are free of fingerprints, dust everywhere, washrooms are stocked and clean. Including toilets, sinks, mirrors, walls, etc. Use daily check list created.
  6. Front door area outside is clean of garbage, weeds, old leaves, etc. It is everyone's first look at our location and must be inviting.
  7. Notice problems, concerns, broken items please record and report immediately to Jocelyn Nixon unless it is her day off. The immediate supervisor or board member in for that week. Safety for everyone is critical.
  8. Record all messages or concerns in communication book.
