Equipment Operator I – Roadside Sprayer (Seasonal)

Term Seasonal Wage Position Available for 2025

  • Hourly rates starting at $25.6744 depending upon experience and education
  • In addition to the hourly rate of pay, earnings include
  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings as holiday pay
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings as annual vacation pay
  • 8-hour workday (Monday through Friday) – Overtime may be required
  • The Special Areas Board is willing to consider a muster location of Youngstown Service Center or Special Areas 2, 3, or 4

Description: Key Duties will include:

  • Operation of a three-ton spray application truck for weed and brush control
  • Maintenance and repair of spray and brush control equipment
  • Compiling chemical reporting documentation
  • Equipment servicing and minor repairs
  • Delivering the Special Areas Safety Program and all reporting requirements
  • Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • A valid Pesticide Applicator’s License is required. Candidates without one must be willing to obtain it before starting employment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Physical capabilities to perform job duties - required lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent customer service: able to use courtesy, and discretion to solve problems

Preference may be given to candidates possessing:

• Class 3 AB Drivers Licence – Air Endorsement

Important Considerations for Applicants

  • This is a designated safety sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on all newly hired employees
  • This position will be working outside completing fieldwork in rural-remote areas
  • Ability to work independently and possess strong organizational/time-management skills
  • Overtime work may be expected as a part of this role.
