We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of family law practices and procedures, along with excellent organizational and communication skills. This role involves supporting lawyers in various aspects of family law cases, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with legal standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers in preparing legal documents related to family law cases, including divorce or family filings, separation or cohabitation agreements, and various other documents.
- Conduct legal research to gather relevant case law and statutes.
- Draft and proofread legal correspondence and documents to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Manage case files ensuring all documents are organized and easily accessible and billings are up to date.
- Liase with clients to gather necessary information for case preparation and maintain effective communication throughout the process.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and filing documents with the court.
- Coordinate and manage tasks related to case timelines and deadlines, ensuring all parties are informed of upcoming requirements.
- Provide clerical support as needed, including data entry and maintaining records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a paralegal or in a similar role within a family law setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of family law principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in legal drafting with excellent proofreading skills to ensure high-quality documentation.
- Familiarity with court filing systems and have techniques to effectively handle multiple cases simultaneously.
- Ability to conduct thorough interviews with clients while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Excellent administrative skills, including file management and clerical duties.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
