Plant Operator - Water/Waste Water Treatment Plant

Our Utilities Team is seeking two (2) enthusiastic, customer-centric and ‘safety first’ individuals for the position of Plant Operator.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the daily maintenance, testing and operations of the Town’s Water and Wastewater Systems in accordance with Provincial and Federal legislation, codes, bylaws, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Completion of Alberta Environment Operator 2 certifications in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, and Wastewater Treatment, preferred.
  • Applicants with fewer certifications may be considered at a lower rate of pay.
  • Preference given to those with post secondary certificate in water and/or wastewater systems.
  • Two (2) years of related experience as a Plant Operator 1.
  • Physically fit with the ability to withstand normal working conditions.
  • Ability to perform all duties with a minimum of supervision and work effectively with variable work loads.
  • Strong verbal & Written communication skills required.
  • Hands-on application and use of computer systems and their applications.
  • Alberta Class 5 valid driver’s license.

Hours per Week: 40 hours per shift cycle *please note that the shift cycle is currently under review

Pay Scale: $38.78 – $40.79/hour, dependant on certifications (As per CUPE 135 Collective Agreement)
