Content Development Summer Student

Community Futures Big Country is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic individual for a summer position in our Drumheller office to develop an inventory of communication assets to help market and build awareness of our services and programs. Working with the Executive Director and Business Development Coordinator, you will:

  • Research and create a thematic calendar for social media for the next year
  • Identifying local organizations that could provide content and services
  • Write and compile a series of blog posts on various small business topics
  • Profile local businesses and non-profit organizations

You will use your creative skills to create content for our website and social media:

  • Learn to use template-based graphic design tools to creating an inventory of social media posts
  • Learn to employ whiteboard animation software to create fun and engaging explainer videos
  • Creating and compile audience-focused information packages for workshops, financial institutions, legal and accounting professionals and small business clients

Finally, you will developing a system for organizing and storing these communication assets for efficient retrieval.

Pay: $22.50/hour. 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The post term is 12 weeks, between May 5 and August 1.

We would prefer some experience/post-secondary education in communicatons, but will accept self-motivated individuals interested in small business, entrepreneurship, or simply interested in developing new skills.

This is a 12-week position, partly funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program, and the successful applicant must meet the eligibility requirements:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to who refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for thr duration of the employment, and
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
