Communications and Economic Development Assistant (Summer Seasonal Full-time)

The Town of Drumheller is seeking a creative and professional individual to fill the summer seasonal position of Communications and Economic Development Assistant within the Office of the CAO.

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Communications Officer and Manager of Economic Development, this position will support the Communication Department and Economic Development Department with short-term communications and marketing initiatives while providing administrative support to the Team.

Specific Accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the implementation of summer economic development and communications initiatives.
  • Assisting as a content creator for multiple departments in social media, websites, and other communication channels.
  • Assisting in the development and realization of municipal project marketing plans.
  • Assisting with research and data collection for economic development initiatives (e.g. film industry and land development sectors).
  • Providing administrative support including drafting reports, correspondence, and presentations.
  • Assisting in the processing of municipal communication and advertising requests

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, business, or a related field
  • Experience with social media management and content creation
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic graphic design and photography skills are considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and digital media tools
  • A desire and ability to learn while in their role.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and work to a deadline.
  • Ability to represent the Town and Department in a competent, professional manner.
  • Ability to complete the administrative tasks associated with the role and the ability to complete daily activity reporting.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License, with the ability to provide a satisfactory Driver's Abstract

Hours per Week: 37.5 hours Monday to Friday

*Please note that due to the seasonal nature of this role, time off will be limited

Anticipated Start Date: May 1, 2025 End Date: August 29th, 2025

Pay Scale: $24.95/hour (CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement)
