Facility Technician

We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented individual to join our GFL Liquids West team. In this role, you will be working closely with the shift Supervisor and the rest of the Hazardous Waste Facility team to ensure both our equipment, and our shop are functioning at the highest level

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and containers.
• Ensure incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocols.
• Transferring, mixing and blending glycol products
• Operation of processing machinery and equipment as required.
• Ensure safe operation and procedures are followed at all times.
• Complete paperwork correctly as required.
• Complete job hazard risk assessments.
• Promote and adopt a safety culture with all employees.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service.
• General shop clean up and maintenance.
• Outdoor yard upkeep and care
• Other miscellaneous tasks as required

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a fairly clean Commercial     Drivers Abstract is required; a valid Class 3 Driver’s License would be an     asset.
• Forklift or Skid Steer experience would be considered an asset.
• Knowledge and/or training in Transportation of Dangerous Goods     (TDG) would be considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Adhere to all company safety requirements including the proper     use of PPE at all times
• Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious     tasks.
• Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand on     cement for extended periods of time.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the     ability to complete meticulous paperwork forms.
• Planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze, identify and solve problems.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.
