  • Annual Salary at $63,166 - $67,630 depending upon experience, training and education
  • 8-hour workday (Monday through Friday) – Overtime may be required

Workplace: Youngstown Service Centre

Special Areas Board operates a Youngstown Service Centre consisting of nineteen (19) equipment bays and cares and maintains over 300 pieces of heavy equipment. We are seeking an experienced Parts Technician with effective organization and time management skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining parts inventory for our busy Service Centre.

Description: Key Duties will include:

  • Receiving, warehousing, and distribution of parts/materials
  • Hands on identification, purchasing, receiving, cataloguing, warehousing, and issuance of parts and supplies as required for the maintenance and repair of trucks and heavy equipment, parts repair and tools from the warehouse and storage yard
  • Assisting with the updating and maintenance of computer inventory systems, records, catalogue, and cross references; processing invoices for record keeping and equipment
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained, forecasting any seasonal requirements,
  • Delivering and adherence with Special Areas Safety Program and all reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (or GED equivalent), combined with warehousing or inventory experience
  • Parts Technician or registered apprentice - Experience preferred but willing to train the right individual
  • Experience in ordering and issuing parts for heavy duty, automotive, and agriculture equipment and knowledge of mechanical principles and the operating and repair characteristics of a large variety of vehicles.
  • Ability to understand the uses of various parts and to suggest alternative or interchangeable parts to mechanics.
  • Excellent customer service skills, both over the phone and in person; ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion and with good judgement
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • Physical capabilities to perform job duties - required lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.

Important Considerations for Applicants

  • This is a designated safety sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on newly hired employees
  • Applicants with an Alberta or recognized trade certificate in one of the following trades are encouraged to apply: Warehousing Basic or Warehousing Intermediate
  • Ability to operate electronic inventory and work order programs, Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
