Technical Services - Summer Student Position Available for 2025 (May-August)
- Hourly rates starting at $21.8093 depending upon experience and education
- In addition to the hourly rate of pay, earnings include
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings as holiday pay
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings as annual vacation pay
- 40-hour work week (Monday through Friday) – overtime may be expected as part of this role
Workplace: Special Areas Youngstown Service Centre (travel throughout Areas)

Description: Key Duties will include:
- Mowing and upkeep of Special Areas Board water plants and lagoons
- Assisting with plumbing and any unforeseen events
- Driving samples into cities or delivering parts
- Hauling water and cleaning tanks
- May assist water utility officers at various sites for repairs and/or regular maintenance
- Data entry
- Delivering the Special Areas Safety Program and all reporting requirements
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Experience using computers and data entry software (MS Office)
- Physical capabilities to perform job duties (requiring lifting/carrying) and have a mechanical aptitude
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tack and discretion and use good judgement
Important Considerations for Applicants
- This is a designated safety sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on all newly hired employees
- Candidates enrolled in a Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Program would be an asset
- Ability to work independently and possess strong organizational/time-management skills
- An attention to detail combined with a strong work ethic individual is desired
- This position will be working outside completing fieldwork in rural-remote areas
