Administrative Assistant - Assessments

Starland County is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team in the position of Administrative Assistant in Assessments. The preferred qualifications for this position include a post-secondary education in finance, accounting, business administration or a other related field and a good working knowledge of tax and assessment legislation, regulations, policies, and practices. The preferred candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in a similar type of role with working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act. The successful candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality as well as have high-quality verbal and written communication skills. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, strong organizational skills and high attention to detail are essential.

The job duties will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Generate and distribute annual tax & assessment notices
  • Balancing, applying and posting assessment
  • Maintenance and balancing of tax rolls
  • Administer the TIPP (Tax Installment Payment Plan) program
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and interruptions
  • Manage and keep the current tax and assessment rolls with data from Land Titles, Municipal Affairs, the County Assessor, and property owners
  • Generate and distribute Tax Certificates
  • Exceptional customer service and provide support to other administrative staff
  • Interact with ratepayers and provide answers regarding tax and assessment questions
  • Administration of recreation grants
  • Assist receptionist with payments, customer inquires, answering phones, etc.
  • Cash receipting and deposits as required

The successful applicant will be required to work a 35-hour work week, Monday to Friday. A clear Criminal Record Check needs to be completed prior to commencement of employment. The salary range for this position is $65,000.00 - $85,500.00. We offer a competitive benefits and pension package.
